Help Needed: How to Set Up Custom Fields in Senaite?

Hi everyone,

I am new to Senaite and trying to customize it to fit the specific needs of my lab. I want to add some custom fields to track additional data for samples, but I am unsure how to do this without disrupting the current workflows or breaking anything.

Can anyone guide me on:

  1. Where and how to add custom fields?
  2. Any best practices to keep in mind for customization?
  3. If there are risks of affecting updates or compatibility later?

I have already checked the documentation, but I am still unclear on the exact steps. I would really appreciate if someone could explain or point me to a detailed guide/tutorial.
